img1img1The leaf which is harvested for making this liqueur is made from the indigenous Croatian variety of Oblica. Harvested by hand leaf by leaf, and then drying. Prepared like that then is macerated in alcohol. Phenolic compounds from the leaves, especially oleuropein and its derivatives, in the recent past have drawn the attention of scientists because of the many proven positive effects of these compounds on human health.
